We congratulate Karina Ressler (editing), Katharina Wöppermann (production design) and Heiko Schmidt (make-up) for their awards for the film LITTLE JOE by Jessica Hausner, which was nominated for the Austrian Film Award in 10 categories.
Austrian premiere at this year's VIENNALE
LITTLE JOE by Jessica Hausner - Emily Beecham won the "Best performance by an actress" at the Cannes Film Festival, will have its Austrian premiere at this year's VIENNALE 2019 and will be in Austrian cinemas from November 1st.

We are very happy and proud to announce that LITTLE JOE by Jessica Hausner will have its world premiere in competition at Cannes Film Festival 2019. Little Joe is her first English language film and is a coproduction between Austria, UK and Germany.
WORLD'S SHORTEST POEM
We are happy to announce the kick off of the debut feature "World's Shortest Poem" by the young director David Clay Diaz. The shooting will take place in summer 2019 in Austria and Greece, supported by a wonderful team.

Presented at the Berlinale, Martin Šulík’s tragicomic road trip follows a journey taken by two dissimilar men who are bound together by the tragedy of the Holocaust. The second feature film directed by Shirin Neshat premiered at last years Venice Film Festival. A film within a film, “Looking for Oum Kulthum” is the plight of an Iranian woman artist/filmmaker living in exile, as she embarks on capturing the life and art of the legendry female singer of the Arab world, Oum Kulthum. Through her difficult journey, not unlike her heroine’s, she has to face the struggles, sacrifices and the price that a woman has to pay if she dares to cross the lines of a conservative male dominated society.

Martin Šulík ('The Garden') directs Peter Simonischek und Jiří Menzel backtracing their parents' past. A road.movie that will celebrate it's world premier on February, 23rd, the 80th birthday of Jiri Menzel (Academy award winning director himself) in the section 'Berlinale Special at Kino International'.
Austrians cinema release on the 3rd of November
A group of German construction workers start a tough job at a remote building site in the Bulgarian countryside. The foreign land awakens the men's sense of adventure, but they are also confronted with their own prejudice and mistrust due to the language barrier and cultural differences. The stage is quickly set for a showdown when two men begin to compete for recognition and favor from the local villagers.

We are proud to announce, that Ali Soozandehs debut feature film TEHRAN TABOO will be screened at the Semain de la Critique as the first animated feature film ever. It's a social drama about three modern, self confident people, who's paths cross in a bustling metropolis, where avoiding prohibition has become an everyday sport and breaking taboos can be a means of personal emancipation.

Following her successful feature length debut 'Sehnsucht' her new film, about a group of construction workers, who are sent to a building site in the Bulgarian outskirts, with an unklnown language and cultural heritage, will be screened at the 70th Cannes Film Festival.
Two Prizes for TOMCAT
For his - in the jury's words - 'precise, wonderfully unagitated look on daily athmosphere' Händl Klaus is awarded the Thomas-Pluch-Script-Prize. Philipp Hochmair impressed the jury with his 'seemingly effortlessly balanced depiction of grand emotions and tiniest hints' and won the Diagonale Actor's Award. Our Congratulations!
Nomination for 'Best Foreign Language Film'
When the 89th Academy Awards will be presented in LA on Sunday, February 26th 2017 the German- Austrian co-production TONI ERDMANN (director: Maren Ade) will also be in the race. We are pleased and keep our fingers crossed...

We start 2017 with more happy news: Greg Zglinski's mystery drama ANIMALS, with Birgit Minichmayr and Philipp Hochmair in leading roles, will celebrate it's world premiere at this years Berlinale.
Awards und nominations for TOMCAT und TONI ERDMANN
We are very excited that Händl Klaus' TOMCAT is nomninated for the Austrian Film Award in the following five categories 'Best Film', 'Best Director', 'Best Script', 'Best Cinematography' (Gerald Kerkletz) und 'Best Editing' (Joana Scrinzi). Furthermore Peter Simonischek is nominated as 'Best Actor in a Leading Role' as TONI ERDMANN. Maren Ade's film already pocketed five European Film Awards for 'Best Film', 'Best Director', 'Best Script', 'Best Actress in a Leading Role' (Sandra Hüller) and 'Best Actor in a Leading Role' and is now not only nominated for the Golden Globes but also on the OSCAR shortlist for 'Best Foreign Language Film'.

Begin of shooting
After the first, intensive shooting phase in Morocco, the team now moves to Austria, where on Nov., 26th the kick-off for the Vienna-shooting will take place. We are happy to work again with Shirin Neshat, an artist reknown around the world. Our first collaboration Women Without Men won the 'Silver lion' at the Venice Film Festival 2009. Here in Vienna some key moments of Oum Kulthum's career will come to live, such as the first ever concert of the 'Maria Callas' of the Arabic World.
We are happy to annouce that KATER/TOMCAT (R: Händl Klaus) will premiere in the course of Viennale Vienna International Film Festival in Austria on Tuesday, November 1st 2016, at 5:30 pm at Gartenbaukino. An additional screening will take place on the 2nd of November at 1 pm at Urania, before it launches in cinemas on the 4th of November Austria-wide. (The Vienna based among you will have to wait untill November 11th 2016 due to the Viennale...)
FIPRESCI Grand Prix
for TONI ERDMANN
After the FIPRESCI Award in Cannes, TONI ERDMANN was honored with the FIPRESCI Grand Prix for best film of the year at the San Sebastianl Film Festival.
Toni Erdmann himself aka Peter Simonischek and Janine Jackowski, one of the producers, accepted the prize on Maren Ade's behalf .
Now in cinemas
After it was celebrated in Cannes by both critics and audience, Maren Ade's new feature TONI ERDMANN will now come to Austrian and German cinemas.
Release dates are Thursday. July 14th, for Germany and Friday, July 15th, for Austria.
The shooting has begun
On Tuesday, May, 3rd, the first clapper fell. Our mindgame film TIERE stars Birgit Minichmayr and Phillip Hochmair in the leading roles. Director of our co-production with Tellfilm and Opus Film is Greg Zglinski (Le Temps d'Anna). The first half of the shootijng will take place here in and around Vienna, before the production moves ob to Switzerland and for a few days to Poland.

On Wednesday shooting in Bulgaria for Valeska Grisebachs film will start. It's a the story of a man and his foe, a choreography of a fight, it's suspense and irrational and delicate logic.

Today, June, 26th, 2015, the shooting is going to be completed. Then the film moves on to the postproduction-departement where Ali Soozandehs first feature film will be completely animated. Find a first impression of the look of the film to the left.
Without any prior warning a father pays a visit to his daughter, who's living abroard. He thinks, she might have lost her humour and hits her with a rampage of jokes.
